This version is so nice. I love how we get what we need directly. This is not as poetic but it is more like what we are used to consuming in a modern world.

Princes playing ball and drop the ball into the well. We can already tell that Drona has special abilities. I am sure that is an amazing feat to accomplish what has been said. We seem to be playing around with classes of people. Due to the whole Karma thing, I thought we were more likely to believe that if a person was in a lower cast then that was probably due to their behaving poorly in a former life. This story seems to challenge that on many occasions. in this moment, we have princes playing and a man of lower cast standing at the perimeter. I would think this was provocative in its time. Also, if the cast is put out correctly, why would Karna end up as a charioteer anyway?

So the scene between Drona and the King would be a great story. childhood friend rejects Drona because again, we are playing with casts. The King sent Drona away in shame because he said that they were not equals so they could no longer be friends. though this was a prevalent way of thinking in those days, why is the writer putting this on paper like this? It seem the writer is framing the king as foolish and the lower cast is more sensible..

The Boar is a very interesting story with the same elements we have seen in the past. It is a tale of worshiping a god and that god being aware that you worship them on an individual basis. So in this part of the story one is worshiping their god, praying to them when suddenly a wild animal jumps out and attacks. Later some person, I would imagine a lower cast, comes out of the woods to claim what is so obviously rightfully Arjuna's. After a time of fighting, Arjuna realizes he is fighting with the very god he was just praying to ( a hidden meaning perhaps?) When he recognizes the hunter as Shiva, he is rewarded with special heavenly weapons.
