Learning Challenge, Keeping it simple, week 7

I like this meme because I could easily see myself posting it. In my areas, I have know to write a note that says, "Dont forget to Eat". In "Keep Things Simple for A Healthy Long Life by John Schumann, He discusses some of the surprises that his family and friends are met with when they ask him about symptoms and diets. His quick go-to statement is that people are not that simple and we do not really know much better than playing probabilities when it comes to treating illness. However, he raises a little hope when he shares that we know a lot about prevention and that some of the most basic things that we need to do is probably already known to us. The list looks like this:

  • Get enough sleep
  • move your body throughout the day
  • eat well-a healthy assortment of foods. Mostly plants, and not too much. (An idea popularized by author Michael Pollan)
  • Interact socially. Isolation is not good for the body, soul or mind.
  • Take some time to reflect on what you are grateful for
